Hi all, i know this subject has been asked to death, but i have a few questions about the 08 wrx.

So i recently bought the SPT exhaust for my 08 wrx and i want to buy a down pipe to fit to it.

preferably - perrin catted down pipe.
Perrin 2008 WRX Two-Section Catted Downpipe, JSC Speed 08 WRX Downpipe

soo since it has the 2 cats on it would i still need to get it tuned?

:confused::confused:

yes you need a tune or engine management.

why do you want the perrin? i have never heard their exhausts were any good.

I think the invidia and Cobb downpipes catted will work best

You can use any downpipe made for an 05+ Legacy GT. Please note that they are transmission specific. I do know that the 5MT LGT downpipes fit the 08 WRX/STi manual tranny cars just fine. I do not know if the 5EAT LGT downpipes fit the 4EAT WRX's correctly, or if there is even a difference in the downpipes between the AT and MT 08 WRX's.

There are several choices: Cobb, Invidia, Megan Racing, Perrin and a couple others.

With the issues they're having with the '08s, I wouldn't suggest doing anything that could void your warranty. If you must, though, get a 3" DP (the SPT is a 3" CBE) with a tune.

Any little tips or tricks I should know before installing my downpipe? I am going to go with a 3" catless dp, maybe HKS?
I have a 3" cat less Invidia Dp with matched cat back, Just got a CEL from boost creep running WOT from second to third on the freeway.

Be advised, boost creep still an issue on the '08 WRX. If you are going to go cat less, you might consider porting your waste gate as well

safe boosting

with a 2002 wrx motor with a catless dp and turbo xs boost controller/fuel computer dtec, could i safely run more than 14 lbs of boost with the stock td04 turbo? some of my maps apparently have 16.5 lbs of boost in them. the turbo xs dtec isn't even hooked up and tuned yet. i read somewhere that it wouldn't be wise to run more than 14 lbs of boost with the stock td04 turbo.

Perrin DP

I just ordered the front section for the Perrin DP, I plan on getting the rear section and an Agency Power Ti Cat Back exhaust. I was just wonderng for the couple of you that did go with Perrin, how you like the fit and finish, butt dyno results, ect. I will be ploshing the inside of the DP at the flange and beveling the edges for the exhaust and wastegate ports.

I don't need a ton of power yet, I just want to get to Stage II safely and legally. Planning on the STI TMIC, and one of the intercooler water spray systems from prior years (or make my own).

Also has anyone heard anything good or bad about Megan Racing suspension?
